For today's post, I bring you Tight Fit's self-titled second album from 1982. As far as I can tell, this album is long out-of-print (Discogs only lists one CD reissue from Europe in 1994 re-titled as 'Greatest Hits' but with the same tracklisting). The source of my rip is a mint vinyl, although my stylus and software don't quite do it justice. I am uploading it without any audio remastering or noise compression (perhaps some day I will re-visit my vinyl rips with an updated record player and software, but for now, this'll have to do).
Anyway, Tight Fit were a UK-based group whose lineup changed at least twice. As a result, the group pictured on the cover were not the voices behind every song on this LP.
The biggest hit single from this LP is a re-make of the popular The Lion Sleeps Tonight that became a hit throughout Europe in 1982 (UK#1, for example).
There are also at least three VERY ABBA-esque songs on this album, the UK#5 single Fantasy Island, the pleasant Secret Heart (UK#41), and the song I'm Undecided.
The remaining tracks are not without their charms, but for the most part, it is those four songs that stound out from the filler on the rest of the album.

Hi all,
Just a quick word to mention that Patti Page passed away on New Year's Day (1/1/2013) at the age of 85. I hadn't heard about it anywhere in the news, and only learned about it today after just happening to check her Wikipedia page.
She had a stunning voice, and four of her singles (including the two featured below) went to #1 on the Billboard Pop Charts between 1950 and 1953. She was the best-selling female artist of the 1950s, and her songs appealed to both pop and country listeners.
Her signature song, the Platinum-selling "Tennessee Waltz," can be found on the "Country Ladies Sampler."

Hello all,
In terms of this blog, 2012 has certainly been the best year, but it's been uneven.
If I'm not mistaken, about half of the albums/samplers that I've posted have been marked as copyrighted/non-distributable by mediafire (some more than once).
Realistically, I am unlikely to re-up any older albums, as some of the albums I re-uploaded were deleted by mediafire within days of my posting them.
With that said, I am unsure about the future of this blog. I enjoy assembling samplers, so I may post a few here and there, but with so many being taken down, I'm not sure how motivated I will be to consistently post new things. I do not wish to make any promises, as my track record with keeping them is not very good. ---
Anyway, enough with my rant...
I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and thank you all for visiting this past year.

I put this together for a friend, and thought I might as well post it here so anyone else who was interested could have it as well. Here is a collection of songs performed by Luther Vandross, either as a solo performer, in a duet, or in a group. I'm not going to give any extra background info, as the music speaks for itself. When Mr. Vandross passed away in 2005, we lost a very talented performer and interpretor, the voice of his generation.

I originally posted this Bacharach Sampler in June 2012, and it has proven one of my more popular posts. I have therefore decided to revisit it by expanding the tracklist out to a full two discs.
This Sampler is a collection of songs by composer Burt Bacharach, and is intended as the companion volume to the 'Dionne Warwick Sings Bacharach' Sampler, and as such I have excluded Warwick's solo works from this album (although two Warwick collaborations are included).

To build this album, I have borrowed generously from the double-disc "Burt Bacharach & Friends Gold" (released in 2006) and the single-disc collector's anthology "Always Something There" (released in 2008), both of which I own on CD. However, I have tried to be a bit creative with the track-listing, including lesser known versions along with some of the hit versions. This collection is by no means exhaustive, but should be fairly representative of Bacharach's works. The album is sequenced in mostly chronological order, with a few adjustments made for flow and such. Most of the songs are from my own CD collection, but a couple are from around the internet, and I have given credit to the sources when such is the case.

Wikipedia notes that "[a]s of 2006, Bacharach had written 70 Top 40 hits in the U.S., and 52 Top 40 hits in the UK," a pretty respectable number I would say.
